Connect a database

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to connect your database.


Use connection credentials

  1. From your Workspace Home click the button at the top right that says 'New Base'.
  2. Select which database type you want to connect.
  3. Enter the connection details for your database.
  4. Update your database's allowlist to include Outerbase's IP addresses.
  5. Connect to your database.
  6. Give your base a name.

Review your user roles

Please take a moment to review the access rights you have given to the user you are providing with your database credentials. All members of the Outerbase workspace will have this level of access by default.

Use a connection string

  1. From your Workspace Home, click the button at the top right that says 'New Base'.
  2. Enter the connections string into the field at the end of the page.
  3. Complete any details that weren't provided by the connection string.
  4. Connect to your database.
  5. Give your base a name.

Authorize your cloud provider

  1. From your Workspace Home, click the button at the top right that says 'New Base'.
  2. Choose from the list of providers under the Connect to your cloud provider section. We currently support DigitalOcean, Turso or Neon.
  3. You will be asked to authorize your account - follow the prompts.
  4. Once you return to Outerbase, select the database you want to connect.
  5. Select the user you want to connect with.
  6. Update your database's allowlist to include Outerbase's IP addresses.
  7. Click 'Connect to Database'.
  8. Update your base name, and click 'Go to base'.
